At the last Autonomy conference*, I had the opportunity to sit down in Paris with Simon Lonsdale, Chief Strategy Officer at ChargePoint, for a long chat about EV adoption, EV charging, EV convenience, and EV charging station design.

Now that I’ve enjoyed a couple of weeks of ChargePoint charging in Florida, Simon’s comments and my own thoughts regarding the differences between some European charging norms and ChargePoint charging norms have all the more salience. If you haven’t already found it on Facebook and watched every second, check out the interview below.

For those who just can’t handle videos without a preview or summary, below are some of the key topics and highlights of our chat.

¤  ChargePoint’s aim is to make EV charging, and thus EV life, seamless.

¤  Remember, the nice thing about EV charging is that even if your car needs an hour to charge, it just takes 7 seconds to plug in.

¤  Something I missed when writing about the fun of ChargePoint EV charging was that you can actually just put your phone (or Apple Watch) next to the station to start/stop charging. I’ll try this out today or tomorrow.

¤  “Being able to charge wherever you go, wherever you are, really makes it a stress-free experience.”

¤  The awesomeness of workplace charging.

¤  Home charging for people in apartments, condos, etc.

¤  Customer service, customer experience, customer service.

To enjoy a text + photo dive into many of these topics, also see the article linked above, “The Fun Of ChargePoint EV Charging,” and see our recent reports on EV charging:

*The video was recorded at Autonomy 2017 in Paris, where I was compensated to moderate two panel discussions.
